💡Lightbulb Moments with AI💡

💡Teachers have two types of "lightbulb" moments with AI 💡

When we give only a one hour PD session on AI with our teachers, even a 3 hour session about "Intro to AI", we typically only see the "Discovery Lightbulb".

This is the "ooohs and ahhhhs" phase.

Rarely do we see the second lightbulb, and in my opinion, the one that is most important for teachers.

The "Realization Lightbulb"

This is the phase where they begin to truly understand a potential impact on the profession, their students, humanity in general.

This is the stage where our work really begins.

Schools that allow time for this bigger conversation to take place, allow for teachers to collaborate to find solutions to adapt, will be the leaders in which others will follow.

But we need both lightbulbs to light up so we can roll up our sleeves to get to work.

Make it a priority.
It cannot be done in one hour, or 3. It’s a journey.

I encourage all educators to weave it into their staff meetings/department meetings, share successes and failures and work together to model appropriate AI use and AI Fluency learning.

And most of all, give us the time to build solutions once the realization bulb lights up.

We got this.
